NEW 2011 ENERGY REQUIREMENTS IN MANY OF THE CALIFORNIA COUNTIES
Seems like as of January 1, 2011... many of the counties have started to change to different and more restrictive energy requirements. Currently, we know sonoma & santa cruz counties have adopted pretty heavy requirements. Check out your county about their energy code requirements.
IT SEEMS LIKE THE STRUCTURAL SOILS TEST IS BECOMING LESS REQUIREDCheck with your local county on whether or not they are requiring the structural soils test that was implemented at the 2009 code change... you maybe pleasantly surprised you don't need one!
MANDATORY FIRE SPRINKLERS FOR THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA as of January 2011
This is a code as of the beginning of 2011 for all structures...it will cost approx $4500 to $15000 plus to put a system in home of 1000 to 3000 sq ft. By the way, your county will require a sprinkler plan (we cannot do one) a certified sprinkler designer has to do that (usually the installer). We understand they are costing around $750 and are typically credited towards your installation when you use that installer.

When building in the non-urban areas, this handbook defines what type of materials can be used such as sidings, soffets, vents, windows, etc.
WE HAVE BECOME "WUI" SPECIALISTS - Give us a call anytime you need to talk about WUI issues... we have interpreted many of the requirements successfully saving our clients thousands of dollars. By the way, all of our log & timber sidings and log wall products are WUI compliant!
